New Green Mayor of Oxford announced

Green Councillor Craig Simmons is to be Oxford’s new Lord Mayor.

Councillor Simmons, who leads the Green party group on Ocford City Council, will take over the role from Colin Cook on May 13th.

Mr Simmons, the current Sheriff of Oxford, said: “It is a great honour to be selected to be the next Lord Mayor of Oxford. In the lead up to the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day in April 2020, I intend to make climate change a key focus of my year in office.”

Craig, who reprsents St Mary’s ward, has been on the city and county councils for more than 20 years. He works in East Oxford for a sustainability consultancy.
