How to Join

The Association of Green Councillors exists to support elected Green Party councillors at all levels of government and to foster, encourage and advise aspiring councillors.

Elected councillors automatically receive Basic Membership of the AGC upon election and can then attend the Annual Conference and vote at the AGM.

There is a subscription fee for Full Membership which enables members to receive a range of benefits including advice, guidance, news, mentoring and access to our online publication.(see Table below).

Fees are based on the allowance that councillors receive. For councillors receiving an allowance (district, county, unitary, Welsh Regional Assembly, LGA and London Borough councillors) the fee is  2.25% of their allowance or £100, whichever is lower. The easiest way to pay this is by monthly direct debit or standing order. If this fee would cause you any hardship, please contact the Coordinator at to discuss.

For town and parish councillors and aspiring Green councillors, those interested in supporting councillors such as previous councillors, the fee is only £10 per year.

Another way to join if you are not yet a councillor is to buy the AGC's excellent "How to Win Local Elections" manual, written by four of the party's most expert election strategists, and already proven to work for those people who have followed it. It is 300 pages full of example newsletters, graphs and charts. This costs £20 incl P&P.  This entitles you to 12 months free membership of the AGC.  It is an introductory offer only and is not available to those who have already been members or who are principal authority councillors.
